Emergency Department Refresh

Renovations to approximately 3,875 square feet of key areas within the 20-year-old Emergency Department at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton. The project included upgrades to the waiting area, triage, registration, security station, IAP bays, and orders area, all designed to enhance patient flow, functionality, and safety.

• Key improvements include:
• A larger waiting area to better accommodate patients and families
• A new triage area to streamline assessments while protecting patient privacy and dignity
• Additional patient assessment bays to reduce wait times and improve care efficiency
• An enhanced security station featuring shatterproof glass and an integrated security room
• A specialized EMS offloading area to allow direct patient transfers and improve patient flow

The renovation also included modernized infrastructure with upgraded finishes, mechanical, and electrical systems to support a state-of-the-art care environment. Enhanced layout and space planning further improved accessibility, efficiency, and safety for both patients and healthcare professionals.
