Project Overview
Construction Management Renovation that converted an existing exterior courtyard on the third level of the existing hospital into usable event/lecture space complete with curved skylight unit, artificial trees and plantings, and 40 foot high feature walls.
- New Research Laboratory Space constructed within an existing occupied working Hospital in close proximity to the Pediatrics in-patient wards and intensive care units
- Interior renovations to convert existing space into offices, laboratories, and teaching space
- Construction of new Laboratories, including bio-bubble
- Enclosing of the existing 3rd floor interior courtyard to create usable, functioning, and collaborative space utilized for presentations, functions, gatherings and meetings
- Space includes new arched skylight / atrium enclosure complete with wood wrapped steel beams, perimeter wood and slate walls to conceal the existing perimeter concrete walls and windows, and new stone and illuminated decorative glass feature walls to simulate waterfalls.
- Installation of artificial birch trees and grasses designed to create an outdoor environment representing the verdant Canadian forests – these engender a calming, healing and restorative setting for hospital staff and invited guests
- Completed 2 months ahead of schedule and $250,000 below budget
- High degree of infection control required
