SJHH Hemodialysis Renovations

This renovation transformed the existing Reverse Osmosis (Hemodialysis) unit at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton into a modern, patient-focused treatment environment. Delivered within an active hospital, the project balanced technical upgrades with infection control and operational continuity, creating a space designed for comfort, privacy, and improved patient flow. 

• Key Upgrades: Full renovation of the dialysis unit, improved patient flow, increased natural light, enhanced privacy and dignity, quiet staff areas 
• Special Considerations: Strict Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) compliance, coordination with hospital staff to minimize disruptions, resolution of building code compliance challenges in an older facility 
• Design Approach: Collaboratively developed with patients, families, healthcare staff, learners, researchers, volunteers, and the community
