The Gowlings Building – Landlord & Tenant Work

Project Overview

This project involved the restoration and expansion of the historic 1929 Bank of Montreal building at James and Main Streets in Hamilton. A new 10,000 sq. ft. addition and interior renovations were carefully designed to respect the building’s heritage while accommodating modern law offices. The result was an award-winning design that preserved the building’s historic character while meeting contemporary tenant needs. 

  •  Architecturally sensitive restoration and addition
  • Complete mechanical and electrical replacements, HVAC systems, new life safety and sprinkler systems, re-roofing, stonework and glazing restoration 
  • Restoration of the original 3-storey banking hall, high-end finishes and millwork, integration of new office layouts while preserving heritage designation
