Westdale Theatre Restoration
Project Overview
This interior renovation revitalized the historic Westdale Theatre, originally built in 1935, into a modern cultural hub for Hamilton. The project combined state-of-the-art upgrades with careful restoration of its Art Deco character, ensuring accessibility, comfort, and functionality for both film and live performances.
- Multi-storey interior renovation with minor exterior upgrades
- New HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, barrier-free accessibility, restored façade and auditorium, upgraded concession and amenity spaces
- Theatre Features: 340 new seats, expanded stage, digital projection and dual sound systems, restored Art Deco detailing, accessible washrooms, snack bar and lounge areas
- Community Impact: Re-established as a community-based cinematic, cultural, and economic hub for Westdale Village and the City of Hamilton
