Safety & Certifications
At Ira McDonald Construction, safety is the foundation of everything we build.
Our unwavering commitment to health and safety ensures that every team member returns home safely at the end of each day. It’s more than a priority; it’s a core value that shapes every decision we make. We foster a culture where accountability, care, and teamwork drive our pursuit of zero incidents, because protecting people is the most important thing we do.
Safety: A Shared Responsibility
Safety at IMC begins with our senior leadership and cascades down to every individual on the team, including our apprentices in the field. Each role is essential in creating an effective safety culture: our executives champion a steadfast commitment to safety, the project managers drive initiatives and set the standard, foremen mentor and guide our tradespeople, and every worker, regardless of experience, contributes to our collective mission. Together, we build a safer work environment where everyone plays a vital role in upholding our safety standards and protecting one another.
Commitment to Continuous Improvement
Our commitment to safety is evident in our consistently low total recordable incident rate, underscoring our dedication to maintaining safe work environments. We strive to lead the industry in safety practices, ensuring our focus on safety protects our team and enhances project success.
As a COR Certified (Certificate of Recognition) company, we are proud to uphold nationally recognized health and safety standards across all our projects. We continually seek innovative strategies to strengthen our safety performance and empower every member of our team to take an active role in maintaining a safe and healthy workplace.

Working collaboratively with our trade partners, we cultivate a culture where safety comes first—always. At Ira McDonald Construction, our people are our greatest asset, and their well-being remains at the heart of everything we do.
Champions of Safety Culture
One of our proudest achievements is our impeccable safety record. IMC has recently been recognized for achieving 32 years (1,299,087 hours) and counting of Zero Lost Time Injuries! We continue to celebrate and embrace this success as we know it sets us ahead of our competition and provides solid proof of the effectiveness of our safety program and the value that our project teams put on safety. A safe project is an essential step to achieving a quality project, delivered on time and under budget. This culture is embedded in all that we do.

Ira McDonald Construction Ltd. was honoured to be chosen as one of the first members of the League of Champions – an Ontario General Contractors Association (OGCA) initiative in conjunction with MySafeWork to promote a safety culture and build awareness in industry.
Enhancing Safety Compliance with SiteDocs
Ira McDonald Construction is proud to implement SiteDocs safety software across all our projects, reinforcing our commitment to safety and compliance. This innovative platform streamlines documentation, allowing us to efficiently manage safety protocols and ensure adherence to industry regulations. With SiteDocs, our team can easily access safety resources, track inspections, and record incidents in real time, promoting accountability and enhancing communication on-site.
